SIUT Organizes One-Day Workshop on Vivascope Microscopy

A one-day workshop was successfully organized by the Department of Histopathology at SIUT in collaboration with Vivascope vendors from Germany on “Vivascope Microscopy: An Alternative to Frozen Section Technique.” The workshop was conducted under the mentorship of Professor Muhammad Mubarak, Head of the Department of Histopathology.

The full-day workshop was moderated and facilitated by Dr. Shaheera Shakeel (Professor, SIUT). The session began with opening remarks by Prof. Dr. Muhammad Mubarak, followed by an insightful presentation on the introduction and principles of Vivascope Microscopy by Dr. Babak Azimifar from Germany. The session concluded with an engaging Q&A discussion.

Later, Dr. Rahma (Associate Professor, SIUT) shared SIUT’s experience comparing Cryostat vs Vivascope as part of a pilot project. This was followed by a hands-on demonstration conducted by Dr. Babak Azimifar, including a live demonstration and an interactive session where participants learned about tissue specimen preparation, image capturing, and troubleshooting techniques.

A detailed talk on image interpretation (normal vs pathological lesions) was delivered by Dr. Roberto Banchi from Germany, followed by the final session on clinical applications, emerging research, and innovations in Vivascope Microscopy.

The workshop concluded with a vote of thanks and closing remarks by Dr. Rahma, marking the successful completion of an informative and interactive learning experience.
