The doctors of SIUT Ophthalmic Unit are committed to providing eye care excellence to their patients. In the month of November 2012 this department started working as a referral clinic for renal transplant recipients. This need stemmed from the growing number of patients who were visiting SIUT with ophthalmic problems after their organ transplantation at our esteemed institute. The many immuno-suppressants given to patients; that were required to prolong and save their lives were inadvertently leading to ophthalmological disorders. Over the years our setup has expanded and is now a well-established fully equipped department committed to providing the highest level of patient care. We now see patients visiting every specialty and subspecialty that SIUT deals with where patient care and treatment remains our top priority. We provide services for:
Renal and liver transplant patients
Patients admitted in SIUT for their medical or surgical problems
Dialysis-dependent patients
Patients from Gastro-intestinal and Oncology departments
Patients visiting diabetic or infectious diseases clinics
Ophthalmic surgeries are performed twice a week
Emergency surgeries, if required
Department is well equipped with:
Slit lamp bio microscopes for eye examination
Indirect ophthalmoscope and other lenses for detailed fundus examination
