It was fully accredited by the College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan (CPSP) in 2014 as one of the first institutes for training in the country. To date, 20 pediatricians are certified Pediatric Nephrologists and working as faculty at SIUT and in different public and private setups of not only Pakistan but also overseas.
Like every other department of SIUT, our department also serves as a tertiary care referral center for the whole country. All quality care, including all the diagnostic tests, procedures and lifelong medications are provided completely free of cost to all the patients.
Clinical research is a mandatory component of training in Pediatric Nephrology. Moreover, the faculty members are also required to have peer reviewed publications for their academic promotions. Our department has published more than 50 articles in national and international journals. Members of our faculty represent the Institute, the country and our region in major national, regional and international societies and conferences. Our faculty also has additional training in biomedical ethics and guideline development. Our department plays an active role in institutional and other ethics review committees and national and international guideline development.
