Our Founder
Dr. Syed Adibul Hasan Rizvi is a renowned Pakistani surgeon, philanthropist, and healthcare reformer whose life’s work has redefined public-sector medicine in Pakistan. In 1970, recognizing deep inequities in access to healthcare, he began his mission with an eight-bed ward at Civil Hospital Karachi driven by an unwavering belief in equity, quality, and dignity in care.
At the heart of Dr. Rizvi’s vision lies a simple yet powerful principle:
“We cannot let people die simply because they cannot afford to live.”
Guided by this belief, he pioneered a model of healthcare that delivers advanced, technology-driven treatment entirely free of cost, without compromise on ethics or quality.
Today, under his guidance, this model supports large-scale clinical care, advanced transplantation, research, and medical training—proving that excellence and equity can coexist sustainably in public healthcare.
Dr. Rizvi’s contributions extend beyond clinical leadership into academic research, with key work focusing on kidney transplantation outcomes, living donor safety, and pediatric urology in resource-limited settings. His work has earned wide national and international recognition, including the following prestigious honors:
- Ramon Magsaysay Award - one of Asia’s most prestigious awards, often considered the “Asian Nobel Prize”.
- Nishan-e-Imtiaz — Government of Pakistan
- Shousha Prize — awarded by the World Health Organization (WHO)
- Humanitarian Recognition Award — Urology Care Foundation (American Urological Association)
- British Medical Journal (BMJ) Special Recognition Award
- Lifetime Achievement Award — Sindh Association of North America
- Honorary Membership of the British Association of Urological Surgeons (BAUS) – first Pakistani to receive this distinction for contributions to urology
Through vision, integrity, and lifelong service, Dr. Adibul Hasan Rizvi has established a lasting legacy demonstrating that compassionate, high-quality healthcare is not a privilege, but a right.
