Five decades ago SIUT started its journey as an eight bedded ward in Burns Unit Civil Hospital Karachi. Gradually this small ward expanded its activities clinically and physically. With the passage of time this small ward expanded its activities clinically and physically and developed into a 2000 bed hospital with 9 functional units across Sindh.

The Department of Anesthesiology at the Sindh Institute of Urology and Transplantation is dedicated to provide highest quality care for patients undergoing surgery and other medical procedures. Team of expert anesthesiologists is committed to ensuring the safety and comfort of patients during their time in the operating room and beyond.

Anesthesia department offers a wide range of anesthetic services, including general anesthesia, regional anesthesia, and sedation for variety of surgical cases such as: general surgery, urology, paediatric urology, pediatric cardiology, robotics, transplantation, vascular surgery, ENT, ophthalmology, orthopedics and dental services. These services are being provided through 28 operations theaters; 6 in SIUT old building, 12 in Dewan Farooq building, 5 in Hanifa Suleman Dawood Oncology building, 2 in Mehrunnisa Hospital and 3 in Chablani Medical Centre Sukkur.

The department of Anesthesiology conducts training in FCPS and MCPS in Anaesthesiology.
