Pharmacy

The Department of Pharmacy at the Sindh Institute of Urology and Transplantation (SIUT) supports the institute's commitment to providing quality healthcare as a fundamental right of every individual. In line with SIUT's mission of delivering free medical care without discrimination, the department provides safe, effective, timely, and patient-centered pharmaceutical services to patients across the institution.

The department works closely with physicians, nurses, technologists, and other healthcare professionals to support rational use of medicines and improve patient outcomes. Pharmacists contribute to patient care through medication review, therapy monitoring, dosage optimization, patient counseling, and the prevention of medication-related problems.

The department also contributes to SIUT's goals of education, research, capacity building, and knowledge transfer through continuous professional development and structured training programs for pharmacy students and graduates.

Impact

• The Department of Pharmacy supports medication management and pharmaceutical care across inpatient, outpatient, emergency, dialysis, transplant, oncology, infectious diseases, critical care, and other specialty services throughout SIUT.
• Through medication safety initiatives, antimicrobial stewardship activities, pharmacy automation, and clinical pharmacy services, the department contributes to safe and effective use of medicines across the institution.

Locations

• The Department of Pharmacy provides services across SIUT's hospitals and clinical facilities, including inpatient and outpatient services, specialty care areas, outreach centres, and SIUT Trust Hospital.
• Pharmacy services are also available at SIUT hospitals in Sukkur, the dialysis centre in Larkana, outreach dialysis centres in Karachi, and other SIUT facilities to support continuity of care and access to medicines.
