COVID-19: The Ethical and Social Fallout, March 14, 2020 - Dr. Shehla Baqi, Dr. Asma Nasim and Dr. Sunil Dodani
discuss the history and social ramifications of COVID-19 with a multi-disciplinary audience.

Three infectious disease specialists, Dr. Shehla Baqi, Dr. Asma Nasim and Dr. Sunil Kumar Dodani led a CBEC Forum called, "COVID-19: The Ethical and Social Fallout" in March, 2020. They talked about the ethical fallout of the global response to this intimidating outbreak, the history of Coronavirus and the social repercussions which have largely been ignored. The session was well-attended by a diverse group of people from different fields and backgrounds. The contributors to this Forum examined the epidemic in itself, and also in comparison to other epidemics and their control processes. The session not only fostered interdisciplinary discussion in reaction to the ongoing COVID-19 outbreak, but also inspired new analytical and critical approaches to the ways in which the new coronavirus outbreak is discussed, conceptualized, contained and experienced.

Dr. Shehla Baqi is a Consultant in Infectious Diseases at three different institutes including, Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Institute of Trauma, Civil Hospital Karachi, and Sindh Institute of Urology and Transplantation (SIUT).

Dr. Asma Nasim is Assistant Professor at Sindh Institute of Urology and Transplantation (SIUT), and heads the Department of Infectious Diseases. She is also an alumnus of the Postgraduate Diploma in Biomedical Ethics from Centre of Biomedical Ethics and Culture (CBEC), SIUT.

Dr. Sunil Kumar Dodani is Assistant Professor at the Department of Infectious Diseases at Sindh Institute of Urology and Transplantation (SIUT). To watch recorded session click here
