The country's first ever convocation of physician assistants was held at SIUT. Renowned social worker Abdul Sattar Edhi, Anita Ghulam Ali and Zubaida Mustafa were the chief guests. Some 284 students who successful completed the prescribed course at SIUT received degrees of at the convocation. Speaking on the occasion Director SIUT Professor Adibul Hasan Rizvi described the situation in the education sector like health and other sectors is “indeed" tragic .He said" “merit has been replaced by a fancy English word “self finance."
We will not let a person to die or lose out in limbo because he cannot afford to pay the fee for his medical expenditure or education said Dr Rizvi at the convocation.
He lamented the too much commercialization of education in the private sector but also in the public sector. Explaining the genesis of physician assistants he said the program is designed in such a manner that those bright young boys and girls who narrowly missed the berths of medical schools should not be treated as drop out and they must equip themselves with other scientific fields.
The graduates who qualified the course conducted by SIUT were educated and trained in domains of nephrology, urology, radiology and clinical laboratories.
Prominent social worker Sattar Edhi who is also a patron of SIUT made a simple advice to graduates “Whatever profession you choose, be a human first so that your expertise and education can prove benefit for fellow human beings".
