The certificate distribution ceremony of SIUT's student volunteer program batch 40th was organized by the Sindh Institute of Urology and Transplantation (SIUT) today. The week long program attracts school and college going students of the city who take part in variety of activities related to patient care. This program is an annual feature of SIUT and extremely popular in the student community of Karachi.
Speaking on an occasion, Prof Adibul Hasan Rizvi Director SIUT said that the program is very important for students at this young age as they are the real future of Pakistan. The program is designed to help them to learn and understand the problems and suffering of fellow human beings which not only brings a positive change in their outlook in life but also beneficial for the entire society. He said during this training the students are informed about the guidelines of patient medical care in the field of Radiology, Clinical Laboratory, Dialysis, Transplantation, Lithotripsy and other medical/ surgical and allied services.
The core principles of community service are taught to the students during this training, Prof. Rizvi disclosed. The importance of Community service in the society cannot be emphasized enough as it not only refines the person but also provides direction and sense of purpose. The current batch of summer vacation included 162 students who completed a comprehensive 30 hours training program. Whereas over four thousand students representing various educational institutions from all over Karachi have attended the program to-date. The ceremony was attended by a large number of parents, teachers and students.
