Efforts to promote medical sciences in remote parts stressed

A five day international symposium was organized by SIUT at its main premises from 8th-12th December 2015 to celebrate the success of its philosophy of providing treatment " free with dignity". SIUT practiced the philosophy during past forty years with zeal, dedication and unflinching faith to serve the ailing population. Over hundred guests from various parts of the world representing different branches of medical sciences attended the symposium beside delegates from within the country.This was an unprecedented gathering of medical professionals in the country.Variety of subjects related to medical sciences were discussed during five day symposium.

Inaugurating the symposium renowned humanitarian and social worker Abdul Sattar Edhi called upon the society to serve the mankind without any personal gain or benefit. He paid rich tributes to SIUT for its philosophy that every human being irrespective of caste, color or creed has the right to get quality medical care.He said SIUT has turned an Utopian thought into a reality.

Prof Adib Rizvi,Director SIUT who gave his presentation of Institute's forty years of service said rising inequality between haves and the have-nots was a strong reason to adopt the philosophy of providing free healthcare to all.

Others who spoke at the inaugural ceremony were Dr Khalaf Bille a former WHO representative in Pakistan, Dr Luc Noel former Advisor of WHO, Prof.Phillip Ramsley, Dr Francis Delmonico, Dr Jermy Chapman and Dr Mehmat Haberal.

Speaking about their experience and associantionship with SIUT the overseas doctors and medical experts greatly lauded the services of Prof Adib Rizvi and his team for their professional dedication and commitment. They were of the view that the example of SIUT can be emulated in many parts of developing world.
