The COVID-19 pandemic has created havoc in the lives of people from different social backgrounds. Their stories are important since they allow us to capture the lived experiences of individuals going through a collective phenomenon.
CBEC launched an initiative titled #HUMANSOFCOVID on our Facebook page at the beginning of April 2020. #HUMANSOFCOVID is a series of narratives contributed by individuals affected due to the institution of lockdown and COVID in general. It represents one of our ways of engaging with the public and learning more about the changes in the social world during COVID.
We share below some of the narratives uploaded on Facebook. If you want to see more in this series, please visit our Facebook page. To contribute a narrative, contact cbec.siut@gmail.com.
"...it wasn't just that she was more faithful than I, although she surely was, but it was that she had the heart
of a grandmother."
"And amidst our personal anxieties, we are not completely immune to the fear plaguing the rest of the world."
"And of course, being a woman (and I have my social upbringing to thank for this), you feel guilty for living up to their expectations of not spending time with them."
"But now sahib says I can't go home even after two weeks, even only for a short while. He says I will bring back the virus."
