Ophthalmic problems are very common in patients visiting SIUT for their systemic issues. This was much realized and required after organ transplantation was started at our esteemed institute. Patients experienced more visual problems as their lives were prolonging, and secondary to many of the immune suppressants prescribed, which were inevitable in order to save their lives. In the month of November 2012, this department started working with one senior ophthalmologist, visiting once a week to address these issues. As it was expected, the department needed to grow. So another consultant ophthalmologist joined on daily basis, with an assistant medical social officer.

We do understand that this is only the beginning, and hope to further equip our department with laser system, advanced lenses, posterior segment surgeries etc in order to provide best possible ophthalmic treatment to our deserving patients.
