The Resource Generation and Outreach department of SIUT organized the certificate awarding ceremony for the 35th batch of student volunteer program. On this occasion Prof. Adibul Hasan Rizvi Director SIUT stressed the need of proper training of the volunteers as an integral part of any program aimed to serve society and humanity.
The program initiated by SIUT attracts school and college going students who are trained in first aid, patient care and extend support to doctors and paramedical staff. So far over four thousand students representing various educational institutions have attended the program. In the current batch some 137 students attended the program.
Prof Adib Rizvi, while reminding the core responsibilities to the volunteers said what they need to understand in their pursuit is to understand and comprehend the problems and plight of others. He hoped that if they inculcate such feelings, they would help bring a positive change in the society.
Prof Rizvi highlighted the importance of the program and said that a healthy society is plays a pivotal role in the progress of a society.
Ms. Kishwer Zehra-Chairperson RGO, who also spoke on the occasion, said that every religion, including Islam, has laid down principles which call for greater human values including justice equality, and dignity of the mankind.
She said the universal religions taught us the basic principles to care for the ailing community and help them with dignity. She said that these positive attitudes signify the social reform in terms of helping others which also produce self satisfaction.
Zehra described the volunteer work is a way of self satisfaction. Highlighting uniqueness of the program she mentioned that some students have devoted more than 2000 hours of community volunteer services.
The ceremony was attended by a large number of parents, teachers and students. Representatives of the student volunteers speaking on this occasion said that due to this program they have learned how to help others. At the end of the program the renowned composer Javed Mir and Zainab Imran performed SIUT’s song “Aao Milkar Baantain Dukh... Sukh ki baat karain” to the delight of the audience.
