SIUT Organized a Seminar on Health Problem of Sindh

A public awareness seminar was organized by SIUT in its Chhablani Medical centre of Sukkur to discuss the health problems of Sindh province.

Prominent medical experts attended the seminar. Prof. Adibul Hasan Rizvi, Director SIUT in his welcome address said medical unit at Sukkur was establish to cater the needs of the poor population hailing from remote parts of Sindh, Baluchistan and lower Punjab who used to find the travel to Karachi for treatment unaffordable. He reiterated the philosophy of SIUT to provide medical facilities at the door step of the people.

Prominent personality of medical profession Prof. Ali Mohammad Ansari traced the evolution process of health care in Sindh. He stressed the need to improve the health structure with focus on prevention of diseases. Prof. M. A. Almani another known personality of medical profession said the common problems of Sindh are malaria, tuberculosis, typhoid, diabetes, hepatitits, asthma and diarrhea. Prof Zeenat Issani a well known pediatrician said one fourth population of the province belongs to under 12 and health facilities for this segment is not sufficient. Prof Mashoor Alam discussed the challenges posed by diabetes which he said is a common cause of renal failure, heart diseases, blindness and other diseases. Prof. Ejaz Ahmed, Prof. Manzoor Hussain and Dr Mujahid Hasan all representing SIUT discussed the various aspects of chronic kidney ailments and prevalence of Hepatitis B and C.

The Seminar was largely attended by medical students, academic staff of medical colleges and members of medical profession of the area. They later went round and saw the available facilities of SIUT Sukkur.
