SIUT’s Centre of Biomedical Ethics and Culture (CBEC), is hosting an international bioethics conference from April 18 to April 20, 2017 at Dewan Farooq Medical Centre, SIUT, Karachi, in collaboration with the Centre for Bioethics and Medical Humanities (CBMH), Indonesia. The conference is the second collaboration between the two bioethics centers, following a three day workshop hosted by CBMH in October 2016 in Indonesia.
Focusing on the dissemination of bioethics, the Conference will begin with open session on April 18,, in which representatives of UNESCO, WHO and EMRO/WHO will talk about international efforts to support bioethics education, followed by talks on the challenges faced in establishing Pakistan’s only bioethics center and educational strategies in teaching bioethics. The rest of the conference will feature closed group sessions with the Indonesian contingent and invited participants from Pakistan that focus on methodologies for teaching bioethics. The two and a half day event will conclude on April 20.
